just hoping its not a danger to my reef tank because i have been having some problems with my coral as of late?

With that trunk it almost looks like a nassarius snail. Do it hide in he sand until you feed the tank? They are great sand stirrers and completely reef safe.

Not necessarily, there are some snails that look like nassarius vibex but actually eat clams forgot the name.

^ Erik Harrison had one (Sea Apple) nuke his tank about 6 years ago. His entire tank looked like Milk. Not a good idea.
The Snail looks like a Strombus maculatus Snail (http://www.ipsf.com/strombusfaqs.html) to me. One of the few beneficial snails that will reproduce in our tanks.
