Tank:
80 gallons
Fluval 406 Canister Filter
2 marineland 600 maxi-jets
Bubble Magus NAC5 HOB skimmer
Salinity about 1.025
No nitrate, nitrite, a little ammonia (.5 ppm)
PH 8.2-8.4
Dead Anemone: Rose long tip
In Tank:
2 black clowns
1 blue condy anemone
1 Blonde Naso Tang
I just got the most bad-***, so beautiful anemone a couple days ago. Dropped him in the tank and then he moved around to the back of my tank, and I thought he was just hiding. Haven't seen him in about 36 hrs, so I tore apart my tank looking for him. Didn't find him. Then I googled a little more and opened the canister filter to find his  slimy little pieces (with a few small sweet color red bulbs). He was toast.
Is this just par for the course? Should I do something before purchasing a new anemone? Such as wrap some chickenwire around the filter (which will be a pain in the *** to keep clean). Should I get different fans than the maxi-jets? Wrap them in chickenwire?
MY SOLUTION:
What I'm going to do FOR SURE is turn off the canister until the anemone finds a spot, but I hear that they are notorious for moving anyways. Should I turn off the maxi-jets too?
Just don't want to do this again. This guy was really beautiful and a total waste.
Thanks,
Brando
