tanks on second floor of house

SO does anyone have a fish tank on the second floor of their house? I have never had one up stairs but am wanting one in the babies room. Im looking at either a 29 gallon biocube or 8 gallon biocube. What are the limits of having a tank upstairs other then water changes?

what size do you have up there? any problems with the floor yet?

The largest ive had upstairs was a 55g tank, but i have seen as large as 200gs.

I normally say keep aquariums on load bearing walls, preferably outer walls. With that said a 29g or 8g aquarium I do not think id be super concerned about it. As far as water changes you could always plumb in a RO/DI upstairs under a sink or haul the water up. That is up to you.

I had a 55 on the second floor. I made sure to have it over a lower floor wall. I would suggest to do that or against a load bearing wall.

I was worried about that, buts its a 72g plus my 20g sump so far no problems and its been about a year. Was scared the floor might crack or bend since its wood floor but nothing yet, knock on wood.

A 29 will b good...i had a 135g an a 120g tank in my 2nd floor..then down to a 50 cube..

I had a 125 DT and a 50 sump on the 3rd floor of an apt. It sucked. But worth it.

I had a 55g upstairs in my previous home. Had it up against an outside wall.
