Hello, been awhile since I posted here on MAAST. Getting back into it for those of you that may possibly remember me. I heard about this post and I thought I put my two cents in. I have a class III FFL and I can honestly tell you that due to the political climate there has been a mass grab for guns by the public. As a result, wholesalers do not have alot on the shelves right now. SR9 is a popular model, and was hit or miss finding one before the paranoia began. Now, there are just not any in stock. Your best bet if this is the model you have to have is a used one on an auction site. Or, if your interested in another model Pm me.

Hi Ace, been awhile. I am setting the 125 back up you saw last time, going to be a FO. Actually its back up, been running slightly longer than a month and I'm adding a tang this Friday. I think most of my back surgeries are behind me now, the last one on 12/20...I have been missing my tank. Good to see you again!

Springfield XDs is a really nice compact that's comparable , but only comes in a 45. As Ace said, good luck on finding anything now.

I love my xdsc .40. 1100 plus rounds with no cleanings. No issues
My mom just bought the xdsc 9mm and loves it

I'll put it on my wait list with my suppliers, see if you still need it when it comes in. But the suggestions on the Springfield XD are good ones, one of the best "out of the box" handgun made today. The XD comes in most popular calibers and different sizes. The Kahr C9 is also a great handgun, well built and accurate. Lot's of choices..LOL...but not alot of availability

I'll third or fourth the XD9, great gun. Too big to carry IMO though. At least for me, I'm kinda small.

If your looking for something small to carry, I just picked up a Sig p938 and am very happy with it.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/01/24/vy5a5uhy.jpg

Thanks for all the info folks. It's for my gf's ccw and since she's just learning to shoot, I wanted to get her the gun she is already comfortable with. (We rented more guns then I care to recall) Ended up getting her the sr40c as that was her 2nd choice.

Sweet deal. Now go get some ammo before you can't.

A friend went to bass pro shops and said the 30 or so foot long 5 level shelf for ammo was bare...

Good luck. Ammo has been hard to get since about Dec 17th. You have to call or go to Academy when they open. If they have some, you can put it on hold for 24 hours. I wasn't looking for 9mm until recently, which is also hard to come by now from what I hear. I managed to find a few boxes of 223 at Academy a few weeks back. If I'm in Walmart, Academy, Bass Pro, etc I always go check to see if they have, just in case they might.
It's so bad, you can't even order it online right now. Everything is backordered, and most places are not even allowing backorders.
If you find some, 9mm or 223, let me know!

I know what u mean about trying to find ammo, the guys at academy see me walking up and they either smile if there is some 9mm ammo or nod no. I don't have to wait to ask. Haha

Call them, if they will answer. They will hold it for you if they have it. You know how annoying it is to try and buy a gun or ammo that is sitting in front of you with a hold tag on it? RAGE!

Thats why I reload...easier to find powder & primers than factory ammo. Or should I say it's easier to stock up on those....but even finding those are getting tough right now..
