+1

In my system the Xenia is the primary DOM remover, and macro is the "fine tuner". Since Xenia doesn't grow as fast as the macro, the macro is faster at filling the nutrient surplus when needed. Once the Xenia growth catches up to the nutrient load, the macro growth will wane. My 2 large skimmers are producing very little skimmate because of this efficiency. I just use them to oxgenate the system. I've been using this form of filtration for many years with some success.....

These are pics of pics.....I didn't own a digital camera in '02

This is a pic of my old 135 from 2002.... At that time I didn't have a fuge, so I tried to concentrate the Xenia growth on the outskirts of the display (left side)......

I was unsuccessful.....I wouldn't recommend doing this

What type of lighting would I need for the fuge since it is in my sump?

Troy you think I'd be fine using t5 or a powercompact?

Multiple T5s with quality bulbs for sure, 2-55w PCs with a good reflectors in a shallow tank will work. Keep the water as clear as possible to aid with light penetration. Remember the goal with this approach is for the Xenia to thrive not just survive... I have found it near impossible to burn or over light these corals. The fastest growth I have ever seen was from a 65k iwasaki 400watt M59, with a PPFD of 250+ and guessing par at 700 to 800 for 12hrs a day.
