View Full Version : RBTAs - How many bstreep clones are out there?

OK, the discussion on Flame BTAs got me to thinking. I've had this anemone for about 6 or 7 years? I get 2-3 clones a year (I keep 2 in my 8 gallon tank, with clowns). That's probably between 15 and 20. So, it got me to thinking. Who still has one or more of my clone RBTAs? And, if you've sold or given clones away, do you know where they are?
Thanks in advance.

i have one in my current tank, and had one in my 240 when i sold it (not sure who ended up with that one). the one i have hasnt split yet, but it opens up to almost a foot across, so i am just waiting for it to split any time now.

I still have mine, going on about three years now is my guess. Love it, super healthy and beautiful. It has cloned on me only once (I know exactly what caused it to split too) but the clone was really puny and didn't make it. When we saw that it wasn't doing very well, we tried moving it over to the big tank to see if it liked it there better, but it just disappeared.
I also have a RBTA in the big tank that is similar in color that I got from ErikH. I've always wondered if that originally came from yours.

Here's a not-so-great photo from the day after it split. The little one on the top is the one that melted away, but the other one in the foreground is still just as lovely and healthy.

I got one from Teeb that split the next day.... Not sure if its the same, but the colors are similar to the one that Kristy posted.
I was hoping for a blood red coloring when I got it from him.

I may have ended up with one in trade.

It's under a stock old 50/50 quad pc jbj hood. I'm red/green color blind but still enjoy it immensely.
Let me know if this looks like yours to your eyes

Very nice. For some reason I have not been able to keep anemones for more than a year. Its good to hear success stories like this.

It certainly looks the same, Ben. What does it look like to you? BTW, it's an orange/rose at the tips, and bright green towards the base.

Bill, I've been trying to explain color blindness to folks for 30 years. I still wouldn't know where to begin to explain. I've never seen what y'all see, so I've got nothing to base an answer upon. :)

Yeah, funny story. Many folks know I'm a geneticist by education (PhD dropout, Rice University). As an undergraduate Lab TA for Bio 101 at Florida State, we had to go to the lecture. When the genetics section came up, the professor asked how many people were red/green color blind. The class was a few hundred, and there were a bunch of hands, including 1 woman. The prof said "So... Your father is colorblind too, right?". She said "No...". Uh oh!
