Well as soon as I find the punk he will be finding himself a home in the sump!! There is a small stub on the rock do you think the Xenia will grow back?

I asked if anemerald crab would eat Xenia last year and I was told Xenia are toxic, so no. However, I am about 99% sure it was him.

I'm pretty sure it was him after inspecting my green star polyp frag it looks as its been chewed on and I've been told that they will eat them so I'm in agreement with you on the emerald mowing down the Xenia
:( I'm saddened about this if anyone has and Xenia frags they would like to part with let me kno..... I drove 45 min one way for that baby and would like another one cause it was a very nice addition to my tank

Mine eat seaweed off the clips. Theyll pull it to them towards their cave and munch. They eat a lot of leftovers they can get their claws on and clean the LR. Emeralds are really good but you probably get some that act up.

I had one that would pick at my clam's shell, then the clam would slam shut and catch his claw. I always had to reach in there and break them apart so the crab wouldn't walk into the caves with the clam.

Do you have a pic of the xenia before the feeding so we know what you're looking for. All xenia will pulse to a certain extent so its hard to offer a piece with "pulsing xenia" being the only description given.

Here is what my 158 looked like when I had it. I could not run a skimmer on this tank, if I did the xenia would not pulse. I never had any phosphates to worry about and nitrates stayed below 2ppm. The only thing I ever saw mess with xenia was a pair of clownfish because there anenome wanted to move from one side of my 75 to the other, so they root plowed a trail for the anenome to follow, other than that it took over all three of my tanks. Frogspawn was the only thing to stand up to it. It is a great coral for a fish only tank at controlling phosphates and nitrates. It does not require a lot of light either, it grew very well under cfls and also under MH.
