Ok so I picked up an Aqueon Evolve 8 right after Christmas. I got the itch to do a pico tank.
I will need some work done on this tank as well as some extra equipment.
The pictures below are the basic idea of what I want done to this tank. I found these pics on another site.
If anyone can help me out with this build I would really appreciate it. Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't even bother with a sump. Make some baffles/chambers where the overflow is for a fuge and do weekly water changes. That's all I do on my 5 gallon pico and the water is clear and coral are doing great.

I definetely recommend that wave point fixture too, its a great light for the price.

I've also got the wave point 16w led fixture on my sump. It does the job.

Ok so does anyone have a recommendation on a protein Skimmer or will frequent water changes be enough? Should I dose anything?
As you all can see I am new to the Pico tanks lol.

Definetely no need for dosing on that small of a water column. Really with just weekly water changes you will be fine.

Don't skimp though, at least once a week every week change about 15% of the water to prevent nuisance algae from forming.

It's gonna look great when you get up and running. You figure out what lights you may run?

Well its running right now and doing great. I did a water change on a 90 and put it in the evolve 8. I used rock Ans sand straight from the fuge of the 90. I'm running chaeto in the first chamber and I've added a bottle of copepods too. I have 2 stunners on there right now and plan to add either a wavepoint or some 12" current led strips.
I guess I need to put pics in a build thread for this tank don't I? Lol

Don't want to distract from your build, but why did you decide not to use the stock lights? I just set one up for myself as well and am thinking about trying the stock lights for some zoas, mushrooms, and maybe some acans, since they like lower light and "dirtier" water, to see performance before upgrading.

I used the stock lights for about a week with zoas and tapas well as a leather and they did great. I just want to put some different frags in there that require more intense light.

Cool, thanks for the feedback. I've been googling the heck out of this issue and can't find any reports since everyone switches out the stock lights during setup.

I wouldn't do dosing, I reccomend a good quality salt like kent pro or reef crystals to make up for what your corals use for the water.
