I just purchased an Ocean Pulse Duo "wavemaker". I cant seem to find a lot of info on whats the best powerheads to use on these. I was warned against using the maxijets because they become loud after time. What about koralias or aqeon pumps? I dont need insane flow since its going to be in my 29g lps/paly/zoa tank. I have about 30lbs of tataka(excuse the spelling) rock that has a lot of crevices and cracks that seem to be filling with detritus. Any advise or recommendations would be appretiated! Lets here what you have to say guys! Thanks.

hey JJ I tried using a koralia evo 750 and it worked just fine on it. I also used a 1400 evo and it didnt have enough start up current to run the 1400 smoothly. It rattled on the start up and it was annoying. I would try the koralia nano 425 on it. Thats my two cents on it. Lets see if anyone else has used different pumps

Nice! The evo is what everyone that ive seen has used. I wasnt sure it was a koralia trend, or if that is what is needed to work properly. Thanks Lou

The hydro 1400 isn't supposed to rattle unless it doesn't have that little rubber stop in it. I've got two that doesn't have it and one that does.

I would definitely go with the nano evo. Start shaking stuff up in there.

After searching for a few hrs last night I also noticed that MD also sells a jbj ocean series thats actually made for the Duo. At $30 a piece they all are in the same rough price range. Looks like evo nano might be the way to go. What about the tunze nanostream 6015? I see the PH on Tunzes site, but I dont see it for sale anywhere? I can find the 6025, but no 6025's for sale??

Well here goes my first impressions. First off. The evo(silver box) nano 425 doesnt chatter or skip a best on the wavemaker. The original koralia nano works as well. The only difference between the "old" and "new" nano is a stopper that prevents the original nano from spinning backwards. So in short! Both work!

Now on a different subject, I feel the nano 425 is still too small for a 29g......it might be enough if I had two on full blast. But then that eliminates the need for an Ocean Pulse. Next step is to order a koralia Evo 550, and a Tunze 6015 and maybe a 6025 if funds permit. Anyone ever use the JBJ Ocean????? 600gph pumps?
