I thought my bristle tooth(tomini) tang was a model citizen........ I've posted about him a few times.... Well I was wrong.... The little **** found a taste for my green toadstool.......

I know getting him out will be a PiTA......

The toadstool has been a great looking piece, nice and green.... But the last few days was looking kinda unhappy.... Thought maybe something with my parameters.... Nope.

leroy was here the other day and as we were talking I could of swore the tang took a bite out of the toadstool. I thought maybe I was tripping or maybe since I just fed, he was picking a piece that rested on the toadstool.... The thing closed up a few days after, barely opening yesterday when I noticed the tang hover then munch again on the polyp of the toadstool....

Time for him to get the boot!

Guess the toadstool is kind of like magic shrooms. Maybe he finds a better place after a bite. Lol

Tangs can be aggressive eaters. Do you have seaweed to munch on between feedings?

To be honest.... I have never had a problem with any of my tangs.

i cut back my feelings drastically trying to get ahold on my cyano.....

So I know that's what it is.... They are freakin hungry!

What a pain. I've dealt with that kind of stuff a couple times. It's like they wake up one morning and just decide to shw their butts. I've evicted several tangs for eating things that they shouldn't. I won't put up with it.

Once I went to LEDs my cyano has allmost disappeared. Im not sure what feeding you do but I have 4 tangs to feed in a 6ft shallow tank.
I feed big chunk mysis and cube brine/mysis and drop several clips of seaweed in the every evening. I also add peeled shrimp from HEB every evening.
Tangs are fat, everyone is fed, no cyano, and coral is all doing good. Coral know when its feeding time too.

I have no clue where the cyano came from but I was checking everything....

I plan to feed more, or go back to how I use to feed before...

Sounds good. Hope for the best. Tangs are grazers for sure. Thats one reason I dont clean the back glass. They also like to clean the LR.

Thinking maybe that cyano remover i used recently killed all of the stuff they would normally graze on.... Cause he has always IMO been the PERFECT tang, so much so, I am willing to wait it out with him.... If it was my yellow, he would be gone lol

My tang doesn't like the algae sheets hanging from the glass, but he will tear it up if I put it on a rock. So I rubber band some to a piece of rubble and place it in the the rock work. Keeps mine happy and I don't feel it is adding to any issues of I referring in my tank.

My tangs are getting fat off of blood worms and Mysis. And they are very fat at that.

Tony, I had to get rid of two of my tangs because they went all "lets eat coral".

That tang I got from you doesn't seem to graze, he eats the algae sheets, but he doesn't seem to be interested the small stuff.
