I was wondering if its ok to rinse live sand before adding it to my tank? I'm not worried about the live bacteria in it since I'm using all live rock. I bought Fiji pink live sand and know that it can make the water cloudy which I would like to avoid. If I rinse it in salt water will it be ok to pit in the tank?

You will still get a cycle out of it, but yes you can rinse. I usually rinse mine in RO.

Keep in mind that if you rinse in RO water, it will not be "live" any longer.

Why will there be a cycle if I'm using all my live rock and old water that's already in the tank? I'm just taking everythig out to replace the crush coral with sand.

The sand will start to populate with bacteria. I'm not talking full on cycle, but a bloom.

I was rinsing sand and adding it to my existing tank when I got a cyano bloom... I have never had cyano in the 2 years the tank was up...... Could have been other factors as I made a few other changes to my tank around the same time but I think maybe the sand played the biggest part......
