Obviously we continue to have some issues with our server. MAAST has been down a LOT in the past week. We are looking into some options. Thanks for your patience.

We are having some issues with the server again. I spent the better part of my work day on the phone with Cartama consulting today. What is happening is another site has had a huge influx of new activity recently and this is hogging ram. That in turn slows down our site. Short term fix is they are going to remove that site from the shared server which should free us up. Long term solutions are planned as well. I was told that the move will happen this weekend.

Please be patient and thank you for understanding.

As an update for all members.

As all of us know we have been having continuing issues with MAAST being down for any length of time and on several different occasions. I appreciate everyone's patience and while it might not have appeared so ,we (BOD) have been trying to find a solution to this problem. Those of us that pay to use this site have been left hanging several times in the recent past due to issues out of our control. I believe we have given our current host enough time to assist us and also to have come up with a solution. Myself, Allan, and others have made several calls and at this point we have not received an answer nor a viable solution. While Cartama has helped us tremendously in the past we need to look to the future. The BOD has made the decision to switch hosts in the hopes that it will provide a solution to the down time and other issues we all have experienced.

With this move there may be a delay in your ability to use MAAST or post. We expect this to be a short time though. I will keep everyone posted prior to the actual change. Please remain patient and we will get through this in the next week or two at the longest.

Just a thought, but has anyone brought up the idea that maybe some one host MAAST at home? Its really not terrible complicated, although you cant really host it reliably with a regular internet connection, would have to be with business connection.

There are easier and more reiable ways to to do this. There are people on here that facilitate web hosting for a living (hint). We had a big thread about it awhile ago.

We thought about a single point host. That is not feasible though. I feel we would be better off with an actual company that has plenty if people to serve our needs.

Ultimately, that would cost more and be slower for people visiting MAAST. We would have to pay for and maintain hardware, have a beefy connection, and in the event something happened we would essentially be in the same boat we are now. We currently have a small host and I believe that is the main contributor to our issues. The host we are going to has hundreds of servers and enterprise support so our up-time will be substantially improved, maintenance is announced ahead of time, and should we run into a problem, they have status pages where we can check if our cluster is affected and if we really need help, someone is there to answer the phone.

Agreed, and I truly believe we are going to one; MediaTemple. We do appreciate your willingness to help Bug, but we already setup the new host and are in the process of migrating to it.

We are fixing to "flip the switch" on the move to the new host. We do not expect much downtime, but remember things do happen. Hopefully by the time you read this we will be on our new server.

If something does indeed happen along the way please be patient and we will get it taken care of as soon as we can.

Thanks.
