Hey everyone,

I've lost two fish in the past two days....a yellow tang yesterday and a flame angel today. My blue tang as some tiny white spots on it. Everything else looks ok.

i have a 90 gallon with two ecoxotic panorama pro led fixtures. I have a fairly large sump with a protein skimmer in it. As far as fish I have two green chromis, two banggais, one bicolor blenny, two perculas, and a sixline wrasse. The blue tang is the only one showing any spots. Everyone is eating like champs. As for corals I have a mix of lps, sps, and a leather. All the clean up crew seem to be doing well. All my levels are good. I'll be doing a water change tomorrow.

I've read the post about Ich on here and I think I have it. Are there any other signs or things to look for? Any thoughts as to my next move? I don't have a quarantine tank....after this episode I think I need to invest in one.

Thanks
Mike

Feed well and do what you can to minimize stress.

That's my game plan. Thanks. I figure I won't add any fish any time soon. Should I hold off on corals?

I added a uv sterilizer on mine and the blue hippos are known to get ick when stressed I learned this the hard way

You say all the params are ok, but what is ok?

Questions I would have is if the fish died from ich? Did they show signs before death?
Or, is the tang now showing signs of ich because of some other problems in the tank?

I didn't see any signs. The yellow tang was sudden....was eating and then a few hours later was dead. I came home from work today to find my angel dead. I noticed the spots on the blue tang as he was swimming and turned up towards the light.

ick is in the tank now. no corals. you are going to have to wait it out and it may take a month or 2 or more for most of the the parasite to die off.
You may lose the fish if you dont know someone who can quarantine good. The ick will hide in shrimp. It will be in the sand. Whats the temp in the tank?

You would clearly see the ick if you had it. It sounds like something else happened? The ick may be an after affect.

The tank is 78 degrees. The only thing I can think of is that I moved some live rock around. I wouldn't think that would stress them out but these are the first tangs I've owned and I guess it could happen.

make sure nothing electrical. check old powerheads, return pumps, etc . . . Ive seen old powerheads and old return pumps produce a charge in the sw. It safer to buy new.

Test again. When you moved the rocks you might have stirred up enough stuff to throw your levels out of whack. It sounds as if the fish are stressed out from something in the water. The ich is an after effect. Water change now to be safe. Try to feed lightly but often. It will have to run its course..

I bought everything new but that's a good idea and I'm definitely going to check. Thanks.

Just in case, get some new food too. Any pics of the tank display and sump?

Thanks. Still a work in progress. This situation will slow it down though. I want to thank everyone for all the info.
