View Full Version : Mr. Aqua 7.5 Gallon Build (super slow)
Zack

So I decided to go ahead and start myself another tank and after seeing Ben's rimless 23 gallon I couldn't help but be a little jealous.
Tank will be a mr. aqua 7.5 gallon cube.
For lighting, I'll be using on of my slimline s-12's.
I still haven't decided much else on equipment but I know for sure I'll be getting another RKL to control this tank. I'll be picking up a used 20 gallon Durheim stand from Top fin this friday as the stand.
Pics when I start getting my equipment!
I look to have water in this thing by February :)

So, the tank will be here tonight and painted blue by friday. The tank will be filtered by an ac-70 with a bad fish reef systems overflow/ media rack. Great little product, here's a link to what I'm talking about.

I'm still thinking of a clean way to mount my leds since the back wall will be taken by the filter.
Still need: RKL/ Live rock/ Salt and new equipment for a second mixing station at my girlfriends house.
I figure it may be up sooner rather than later.

That's gonna be a sweet little setup Zack. It would be tough for me to have that thing just sitting around without getting to set it up. Keep us updated.

Oh trust me.. it is. As soon as I get my holiday bonus I'm buying the RKL and some live rock and set this bad boy up! This week I'm purchasing the surface skimmer from bad fish and the internal fuge mod upgrade kit.

Well it depends what modules you have, for this tank I have 2 PC4's but I'm only using one.
I have it to- keep my temp at a constant 77.7 temperature whether it be by turning on a fan, or a heater. This uses 2 outlets. The 3rd outlet is for my ATO and 4th is for my AC70. Those two will be programmed to turn off when I put it into standby mode to do a water change. I may purchase a small skimmer to run in the AC70 and the second pc4 will turn that on off when it needs to be turned off.

So I put the first peice of dry rock in the tank.. while doing that, I found what looked like a ball of spider webs.. at first, I tried to grab it with my hand which seemed like a good idea until the ball opened up and there were 30+ baby spiders inside all crawling around.. I grabbed a bucket, submerged the beasts and began picking at them with scissors to get them out of the rock.. I drained and filled the bucket about 4 times and after flushing all the monsters I thought the job was done and had a celebratory lap around the room. I came back to put the rock and the tank, and low and behold the biggest spider I've ever seen was on the rock.. this thing was HUGE.. at least the size of a half dollar. I grabbed my trusty scissors and defeated the beast..
Pic related, it's how I felt during the final encounter

Tank has diatoms!
I'm worried about my hermit crab I put in, it hasn't moved in two days, when I touch it, it goes back into his shell, then he walks, then stops at a spot and doesn't move. I've added the quick start bacteria.. if he doesn't improve soon he's going back into the DT. Anyone thinking he's molting? Do these crabs even molt?

Tanks is doing great, upgraded to a 12 gallon jbj deluxe cube. We got some good corraline growing on the rocks and the zoas are going great.
The clowns have begun the pairing ritual and it seems that the platinum is going to be the male with the nearly naked being the female.
Here's some pics:
