you got me thinking... Is my vega giving me the color I'm looking for? Can you help me determine if this is what Sherita would call "eye Candy"

I believe i'm the only one that has this Chalice.. it has no name

http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/itili/IMG_2190.jpg

This Acan seems like its losing its red color..what do you think?
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/itili/IMG_2191.jpg
I think my red war coral is turning orange........... or NOT!
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/itili/IMG_2194.jpg
My confusa must be confused.. thinks I have metal halide
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/itili/IMG_2198.jpg
Dont even know what to say about these two
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o258/itili/IMG_2192.jpg

too blue!! wait till I load up my fixture with 2 blue plus and 2 Fiji, I'll have "led"
color

but I remember someone added magenta stunner to combat color and then go to a fixture with multi color ?? so that means before now LEDs fixture where a lil behind spectrum wise

If I want to go a little less blue,, I just touch a few buttons instead of spending $$ on changing lights out.

here's the deal I could spend a lot of money for something that isn't an improvement over my current set up. i still have nice coral. or I can buy a bubble king, and a royal exclusiv dream box with LEDs lights in the sump to show it off and leds in the skimmer. that would be an upgrade in my filtration system and sexxy!

350gt
Tue, 27th Nov 2012, 10:17 PM
My tank is not that blue during its peak hours..... actually a 10k sorta look....

I personally never cared for 20K tanks.....

Lol
I will no longer joke about cyano!

Got a bad taste of my own medicine..... Think it was just the lower volume of water change.. Did a bigger one this week and it seemed to help, doing another good sized one this week..

I was a bit surprised at just how bland coral looks in regular sunlight while I was in Hawaii.

I made an assumption that most of the coral would look drastically different under specific wavelengths.

I always liked the clean crisp look of 20k MH bulbs, when I had the T5 set up I couldn't stand the overpowering purple or blue look that I got. Of course that was due to my choice in bulbs, but it speaks to a desire to have that crisp white look, tinged with a light blue that causes the coral to pop.

Tony, me either... About joking about cyano. I'm not sure what I'm doing right this time but my cyano seems to be at zero... Of course now that I've said it...

Lol....

Well where I think I went wrong is by cutting back on my water changes, from 30 gallons bi weekly to 10 weekly. Tank didn't like it.... Going to do 20 a week then eventually back to 30 bi weekly...

allan

I do 20 gallons a week.

I have done two of them this week because I'm slowly taking out the rubble rock and I figured that it would help combat any swing in the tank parameters.

:bigsmile:Yes sir. lol With my LEDs I have frag racks hanging off the side and high to help sps acclimate to the 6x2 125RR frag tank. My heatsinks are 20"x8" and I am in control of the spread with the Lenses. Led is a very clean light. :shades:You have many light angles lenses to work with the LEDs 40, 60, 80, 120, . . . and all the light intensity is adjustable. The Future is here.
Of course it also depends on height above the tank. Your shopping around arent you? I dont blame you one bit. It would be nice to see LEDs over your tank.

I would like to add that I am in control of each LEDs angle.

i asked growing on floor not on racks up high, as i run a 4 foot fixture on a 5 foot tank with good par readings through out the tank. no im not shopping around if i switch soon it would be the radion pros(when released). i wouldnt do diy, i can turn on and off my lights now, i would like being able to ramp up and down automatically and for them to communicate with my vortechs. i dont like the look of heatsinks my tank will always be open top and need a clean finished look of a fixture.as it stands ill be going with the lumen bright fixture by coralvue.

i also asked for pics?

Everyone has a different taste. I have allways used lights in canopies, including T5s and MHs. I dont have a lot of moola so I diy. Also, I have cats in the house so I use the canopy look.
I turn my lights down because they are to bright. I also need a good camera. This old phone camera is ugly. lol
Because I have control over a single LED I can put that LED light anywhere.

I would like to add that I realize your covering 5ft. I have to cover 14 feet of light. And diy LED is for sure the way to go. I have more than 3x the amount of light coverage
that I have to be concerned with especially if you consider a 7ft sump and a 4ft sump.

I have posted full tank shots. I do have a tricolor that is sitting a little more than half way down on the back.

Not doubting you or your lights. The LEDs work for me. I do like the look of them, especially the new Vegas. Clean look. The ghl Mitras look absolutely stunning and the orphek fixtures are nice as well.

If I did doubt you I wouldn't have gone in on those frags we ordered.

Tony, you are more than welcome to come over and check it out;)

I really like my LED light that I have on my 20 gal. and it's done some nice things to my tank. I'm not completely a hater on LEDs, but I don't see use going LED on the big tank any time soon...if ever.
