oh god do people really care about electricity and heat. at this point I've spent so much on other top notch gear for my tank I don't care. I'll buy a couple fans spend a lil more cash on a electric bill, that I'll make for when I can sell frags every month because my growth is that great!!!

you live like an hour away! why haven't you been over to see mine. I had to arrange payment for the frags we bought you could of brought it to me, and actually seen what we bought. but seeing them now before they grow out would mean admitting how nice they look and know how fast they are growing lol. Chris. You have an awesome tank. But Johns tank is pretty amazing. Leds definitely add a different level to the tank. Sorry bro. I run MH too. But that's cause it's tried and true. And i love the growth. His colors are pretty sick though.

Yeah, I've seen both, and John's LED set up rocks.

And by the size of his frags, growth is pretty impressive as well.

No fault to you Chris, but you are still a newb when it comes to MH according to your signature line. You should come back and talk to us once you've a few years under your belt. :D

But to give you fair credit, yes you are all pro MH now... just like you swore by T5 until February of 2012 (see the correlation?), I believe you had MH before the T5s, right? So you do a lot of swinging. The only fixture I haven't seen you try yet is LED. I'd like to see your response to the LED experience in your own tank.

... but we all know that the best thing out there is what you, chris, is currently running. :)

I've got the MH myself (one is a 400w with a lumanarc reflector), and will never go back to T5, but seeing Tony's tank, Dan's tank, and John's tank... the colors are much more vibrant and the control over what you can display is much better. Besides of which, who becomes a reefer just to sell off the unwanted frags? That's a byproduct of successful reefing, not the reason for it.

no my current tank has had mh since then, you forget 65g my first real reef tank I had set up 3 yrs ago it was a single 250w, then 250w plus pc.
if ran 4 blue plus in my t5 I could get same results in color, ice learned that from messing with a all t5 fixture and running 10k mh how color is easily adjusted by bulb choice.

Dang I'm late to this poo flinging party. I've historically been a MH guy, but am now running LEDs. If these LEDs don't work out well over the next 6 months or so I won't hesitate to go back to MH....just because I know they work well. It would be nice if I can get my LEDs to do everything I want, but only time will tell. I'm running 3 AI SOL and 6 Panorama Pros over a 144 half circle (30" deep). Anybody know when the Vega upgrade will become available for SOL users?

Kicking around the idea of getting two GHL Mitras....if I do I'll be selling the AI stuff and the Ecoxotics. I would be interested in doing the Vega upgrade first though since two GHL Mitras will run about $2500, i might as well give the Vega upgrade a shot first. Any info on the availability of this?

No info as of yet. I went back and forth with a rep at MACNA. He said they were pretty close to being ready. AI has a bad habit of stalling and I also feel they will wait so they can sell more of the Vegas before offering the upgrades.

I saw the mitra or whatever GHL is calling it. That is a very nice light. Small and compact, sexy with good spread. I love German engineering, but hate the price.

Orphek is another decent one.

Wonder if we can talk Louis into bringing in any others in the future?
