I use felt 200 micro socks. But I'm also curious as to what everyone else here uses.

I use the 200 micro felt when I do my water changes and I'm loosening junk up as a water polisher, but it quickly clogs and I remove it after 24 hrs.... I also run reef carbon in a hang on canister filter to catch any ammonia spikes, learned the hard way a year ago when I disturbed my sand bed, it crashed my tank....

I also use 200 micro felt as well but as mentioned above they do clog very quickly especially when you use it several times over. I recommend using 100 micro since it will take about 2-3 weeks prior to clogging. This way it prevents larger pieces to pass into sump, and the tiny particles to be captured by the protein skimmer or other mechanical filtration if used.

Doesn't really matter to me as long as I can't see through the bag that's catching the junk in my water.

I do, however, feel its VERY important to keep at least 1-2 extra filter socks on hand so that when you remove the dirty sock for laundry time, you can easily pop the extra sock in quickly.
