Are people keeping elegance corals? If so, which strain?
I've been reading about them and am getting mixed info. Many people say they are hardy many say they are not. Specifically, the indo's are not.

I would think you would want one from Austrailia if possible. One story I heard most today are collected from polluted waters, so it is hard to keep up with the food they where used to?

story I read that with advancement in filtration technology now and the ability for use to keep more stable tanks that more people are successful with them.

So I was looking for a pistol and for the life of me I couldn't get one locally. So I went online to buy one. I ended up picking up this elegance, that was too pretty to pass up on a WYSIWYG. I saw it last week and have been reading about them since then. Since it was still there I thought it was karma.
I got it today and it looks to be an aussie one from the color of the skeleton. It is very white, not like bleaching white but white. I have read the indo ones are darker in color due to where they are harvested.
It came very recessed in it's skeleton, which is to be expected. I kept the lights off while I was at work (i added a couple fish as well). I just turned on the actinics and fed the tank. The elegance is coming pretty far out. Looks like it is trying to eat and get some light. I'm pretty happy right now about this as it looks like it might be doing ok based on the research I've done.
Of course I just got it settled so it will take time. I'm taking precautions in case I have missed identified it. It is covered with 4 layers of egg crate to reduce light. I also have reduced my flow quite a bit. I was running 4 koralia 1400, now I only have 2 running on a wave maker (side note, my torch practically doubled in size when I reduced the flow). Flow seems to be ok still. I don't have food sitting and I don't have SPS.
I'll post some pics soon. I'll use this thread to track its progress for others.
