So I got this guy two weeks ago, he looked good for about two days and the last week and a half he has looked like this.
http://i47.tinypic.com/abijhz.jpg
It's all deflated, showing skelaton through tissue. There is no tissue recession that I can see, this morning I decided to seek yall's expertese because now the mouths are open.
I'm starting to worry.
I have been target feeding and protecting from the shrimp while it eats and it does consume the mysis i feed.
The only changes to the tank is that i recently started using reef nutrition rotifeast, oysterfeast, and phytofeast, I rotate between each bottle everyday using maybe 20 drops in a high flow area.
System Volume 110 gallons including sump
sal 1.025
ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
nitrate 20ppm
po4 .25
cal 460
temp 80
Running Carbon and GFO
Fish List
2 x clowns
2 x blue reef chromis
2 x purple fire fish
4 x blue green chromis
1 x timor wrasse
1 x yellow tang
corals
2 x hammer coral opposite ends of DT so no sweepers hitting the lobo
1 x chalice colony , on the sand bed but 8 inches away from lobo
6 different types of zoas and palys but none are anywhere near the lobo
misc
1 x GBTA 6 inches from lobo
2 x skunk cleaner shrimp
misc blue and red leg hermits
and a bunch of margarit snails
I am about to do a 25 % water change will check back in a hour to see if I have any advice.

Looks like you have LEDs and looks like he is getting too much light? Just my guess..

Never had a lobo but its anything like a acan(lps), sometimes they don't like direct flow...
hows the flow in the area.... Have you tried moving him?

So, did a 25 % water change, but before I left to collect the water I turned the led's down and i might be imagining it but it looks like he has inflated a little bit.
Ill give it another hour for my NSW to clear up and I will snap another pic to compare. But it does look better with less light. Might not be acclimated to the leds yet.

The flow IMHO is not to much nor to linear. The GBTA is litterally like six inches away at the same depth and seems very happy

Sometimes brains do not like GFO. If you had a fuge I would say place him in there for a week and see. My brains like slow flow and pollution

I really hate moving lps after I've placed it. Once or twice is okay, but there's a tendency to keep moving them when what's truly needed is to provide a stable environment.
I have mine under a 150 metal halide at about 26 or so inches of water. And the lamp is about 12" from the surface of the water.
I also had to get rid of my yellow tang who I caught chomping on it.

If I could catch my yellow tang he would be sewer surfing right now. Worst purchase ever, its agressive towards everything in the tank. It tail slaps the wrasse, the clowns, fire fish, chases the chromis. I really hate it lol. And it requires me to feed algea to my tank to keep it alive.
I need to bite the bullet and chase him one of these days but I keep hoping he chills the hell out.

You should ask Ace about chasing tangs! He has a list of do's and dont's! Lol. Sorry, Ace. I just had a mental picture every time someone mentions chasing a tang...

Just because I take things so literally. You probably didn't mean it, but its not responsible to flush a fish, return it to the LFS or another reefer with a fowlr tank.
And even though Jeremy noted he was only kidding (jk), it bears clarification. Do not release your charges into the gulf.
Look into a fish catcher. That's how I caught mine. The easiest thing ever. I put some food into it and he was the first one through.

You run led's right?
Did the tank that he came out of have led's on it? If not, I can almost guarantee you that's the problem. If he's not accustomed to them, you will need to turn them WAY down and very slowly acclimate him.
I would also evict the yellow tang. I can bring my fish trap to the swap for you to borrow, as long as you promise to ship it back to me once you are done with it. It's never taken me more than 20 minutes to catch any fish with it.
Is there any chance your clowns are trying to host the lobo? I've seen them kill a coral by continually harassing it.

I would never flush a fish that was still alive. But yes to clarify, I would never intentionaly kill a animal, and I would never in a million years release anything into the wild.

I have no idea what the tank it came out of was running. I doubt it was led since they are expensive and unproven long term and I bought it from someone who obviously sells for profit. ( Gonzo frags )
As for the clowns, No they are not harrasing anything except the nem. They love it and the only time they are more than 6 inchs away from their nem is when chasing a chromis that gets to close or bulldozing a shrimp trying to clean the nem out of their turf, or chasing a piece of mysis or pelet that caught their eye.
As for the coral, I suspect to much light. So, I moved it to the very edge of the tak in front of a little mountain i made. It doesn't block much of the LED's light but the coral is no longer directly under them as it was with previous placment, The move also put it in a lower flow area.
It's to early to say for sure but I checked on it several times today and it is actually inflated some. Can still see one or two protrusions of skeleton through the tissue but nothing like in my previous pictures.
Obviously at the time of this posting its well into the night cycle on the tank but I will snap a couple of pics if I can before I goto work tomorrow to show the improvment

Not sure if I will be able to make the swap. i really, really want to come. But it's 200 miles away from home and I don't get off work till 6 am the morning of the swap. But, if I can talk the wife into coming with to keep me awake I am going to try.
