Can anyone identify the algae in the attachment? I went to a pet store looking for macro algae and was given what see in the photo. After looking online I'm wondering if it could be some form of nuisance algae for instance bryopsis penata?

Looks more like a form of caulerpa. I would not trust it in my display and possibly not even in my fuge. Once it gets hold in a rock it is almost impossible to get rid of.

Agreed...look up the dangers of caulerpa going sexual and spawning in your system

Never had a issue with caulpera in my fuge and it going into the rest of my system....
but I would never put it in my display.... It would quickly take over.

Where'd you get that? Hope they didn't charge you for it...
If you're looking for macro, people on maast are likely to donate cheato, and Aquarium Designs and Elegant Reef sometimes have dragons breath...
I haven't had luck getting macro at LFS, and the only vendor I tried online was a bust, too. Seems not too many people are into it around here. Not all algae is bad, people!

tebstan,
If your wanting more decorative algea, outside of dragon's breath, Aquarium Adventures was carrying shaving brushes and halemeda when I went in during the grand opening. I can't remember if the price was around 5 bucks because of the special they were running or if that's normal though...
