Newbie here trying to get the tank set up. I have a coralife aqualight pro which I purchased from a fellow member and local. The florescent lights worked for a couple days, then they started flickering. I would turn the switch a few times and they would either "catch" and stay on or not. Took it apart and checked the connections, no obvious problems. All the internal wiring looks connected and tried a couple power sockets. I also switched the lights (right to left and vice-versa), one side up and then the other side up, and still no luck. Any ideas??? Thanks a ton.

Sounds like the ballast is going out. Double check your end caps for corrosion.

Tried that. Also, one side (where the switch is) makes a kind of "electric fizzle sound" before it shuts off.

Just called coralife and the guy said it was prob an issue with the switch (which is what I initially suspected) and he sent me a couple replacements for free. Nice!

Ha! Well, I'm just getting it up. I'll post once I get it together. 75 gallon running with a bubble magus NAC5 hob, Fluval 406 canister, the lights, waiting for it to cycle. I'll boast about it once it looks more like a box full of water

Or less like one...

Yeah, I was EXTREMELY pleased with the customer service. I purchased the lights second (third) hand and mentioned that, but still no charge at all, not even for shipping and he said he'd get them in the mail today. Very knowledgable. I have the thing in pieces as you can imagine and we went through what I did and how the unit was behaving and boom. It was one of the best customer service experiences I've had, the other being when my year-old iphone failed to recharge and the guy at the Apple store just handed me a brand new one within an hour. Customer service is king. The best and the worst are the only ones I remember.

Also, I appreciate all the fast and knowledgable responses. These mini-trials can really break your spirit (and your wallet) if you are clueless.
