I finally managed to get my hands on a coral cat shark this past weekend. I was worried because the LFS said they never saw her eat, but she's nice and hungry in my tank and is eating well. Quite the little hunter too. Tonight we are going to see if she will track down the food on the other side of the tank.

Coral Cats typically get 20-24" but can reach 28". That's why I chose one over a bamboo which gets up to 42".

Thanks. I agree. She is awesome. I think it's a she anyways. I have not checked for claspers yet.
I was actually thoroughly shocked to find this species at an LFS, and at a great price too. Coral Cats are harder to come by, normally bamboos are available but not these. They actually sold her to me as a Marbled Cat, which is not correct. The guy at the store even mentioned Coral Cats are rarer...yet he had one right there. I bought it and had the species confirmed as Atelomycterus marmoratus, otherwise known as the Coral Cat Shark. Marbled Cat Sharks are Atelomycterus macleayi.

Just for the sake of an arguement...
How compatable would this shark be in a reef tank?

I think some people do it. They are suited for life in a reef because the way they can maneuver around live rock but they still need swimming room for when they come out at night. It would probably knock over a lot of coral and break SPS though, not to mention they will eat pretty much anything they can fit in their mouth, including: small fish, shrimp, crabs, clams, etc.

I've always wanted a shark, but stayed away from them because I prefer coral. I wonder if I have enough room, but then again, I can imagine coming down in the morning and finding my branching coral looking like a pile of hay.

That's why I have a separate tank for her.

Yeah, I'm tanked out... however, if I tied in another large tank with just a few T5s, into the existing system....
I could do that up until the point Gloria kicked me out.

@allan. Lol!
Nice shark! I doubt I'll ever have one but they're like grand kids to me. I'd rather go see them from time to time...

Being single, owning your home, and living alone certainly has its perks.
I'm already trying to figure out where I can put a 10x15 shark pond. LOL, probably won't fit in this house.

New video. She is a lot more active. Swims actively during the day at times and doesn't waste any time getting to the food now.

My favorite part is when she sees me, she begs just like other fish do. Right now she is going back and forth across the front of the glass staring at me. I love feeding her too. I have not gotten brave enough to go bare hand yet though.
