i do not frag those two, unless like in the case of the cali tort i had too so i could remove it from a rock that a monti took over. those two are my babies and will be left to grow out. i have couple pieces banked in some friends tank incase something happens.

I've still got the coral, it's doing well. Just not very large yet. You're right though, I do appreciate these corals much more than some of the others. I have one frag that is such a light colored blue that it may be one of the torts as well. I'll snap a picture today when I get home.

they are a very unique blue color and with a lil green really pop. but very sensitive after cutting and re-glueing, it has slowed down in growth. Garf bonsai is another favorite of mine, but my blue milli is by far my fav piece ive had it for years and its always pulled through my ups and downs and tank moves

Awesome Chris....

takes dedication to wait 3 1/2 years..... But well worth it IMO..

I never cared about SPS until I got one frag from you, don't even know what it's called still.... But it was awhile back.

The only SPS piece I ever saw online that made me want it before Was the hawkins blue enchinata... The Cali tort is impressive though.

This was my favorite - Paletta lovelli. I can't believe I grew a volleyball sized colony from a frag, and then killed the whole thing:

Nice colored Sticks guys, Im going to give a couple a go with this tank. Have a island just for a SPS or 2. I just can not see growing out a gorgeous coral only for it to die and bleach out. Softies are so much more forgiving.

dude sps is so easy if you can keep a stable clean tank, and the right equipment. LPS is so agressive most my sps will grow into eachother fight a little then draw a neutral line. while sps will fight till the death! the growth on sps is so quick and you get instant results when you do it right

there is such a misconception on sps and level of reefing, when i see expert only i just see it as how much time do you put into your tank do you test and do you know how to adjust levels and do you have the right equipemnt! not how long have you been in the hobby, it all comes down to husbandry and love lol. you have to really love the hobby to keep a tank that sustain any coral. i learned a lot from Gabe he got me hooked on stix 6 months after setting up my first tank. ive just ran with old school advice and learning all the new stuff along the way

Look forward to see what you bring back from Macna.

As far as my aquarium in concerned. I keep my tanks clean enough to take a picture anytime and have grown cap before no problem. I want to avoid having to dose, run a reactor, calcium etc. Keep with a couple of SPS and let them shine and grow out.

your tank is small enough not to dose maybe a lil cal and alk but as long as its not packed with sps it would be fine. doing water changes is great but you still need gfo to control phospahtes our water, salt mixes, food and some additives all have them in it so i always recomend a gfo reactor. nitrates can be taken care of with water changes but bio pellets are so easy "set it and forget it" but bio pellets need some pho4 and so do SPS but not too much. its a fine line to toe. but keeping constant stable levels is key very lil fluctuation

I will never commit to a predominantly SPS tank.... I'm sure we both know it takes some knowledge and common sense...

but aslong as I can buy some frags from time to time from you and others its all good.. LoL

i am really looking into a gfo reactor though....

Ray I don't dose or have any kind of reactor and have had some growth from my few pieces of SPS.... Maybe not crazy fast growth but it can be done....

just select a few high end pieces..

Dude,

I have beautiful frags of the garf bonsai... buy my colony doesn't look as good. I think I have to put it up higher in the tank.

BTW, my new very favorite piece is the Purple Freak. It's growing and encrusting well for me at the moment. Really thick main beam and branch. Each thick nodule is topped by a very light green polyp similar to the garf bonsai. I'll posty up a picture of that as well... although it won't show due to my poor picture skills.

I think I got mine from Ace when he was tearing things up. That was the one coral I almost NEVER fragged.

I am lucky enough to have a colony of everything on this thread minus the Oregon tort. The Cali tort is a slow grower.

I very rarely frag unless I have to.
