I stopped by at Elegant Reef today to grab something, and definitely needed to get my harlequin a meal. It's been a while since I've busted out the camera and Chris bugs me all the time to take some pictures of something...preferably the 150....but I figured this would be more exciting since my harlequin shrimp hasn't been fed a nice big starfish in a couple of weeks and I knew he would be excited.

Excuse the different 'colors'. This gave me a chance to play with the color settings before MACNA so that way I can take some decent pictures.

It's a Nikon D90. I really haven't messed with it a whole lot since I got it in May I think. Then, it's a pain in the rear going between tanks and adjusting each time I take pictures of the two. Since we have MH on the big tank and I only have T5 on the 20, it's a huge change in color.

Nice pics and nice camera! I also have a D90. With the Metal Halide and T12's, I have found that if you set White Balance to shade and then use the minor adjustments, you can get the colors pretty close to real life. With the LEDs now though, I have to set a custom white balance setting.

I used to rotate my starfish into the sump. Let them grow back, then cycle them in for the shrimp. They DID eat the asterina stars, too, which is why I had them.

I too throw in some asterinas in there since we've got a lot of them in the big tank, esp. when I don't get a chance to get to get a chocolate chip. Chris keeps trying to get me to just cut a leg off at a time, but he pulls that star so far into the rock work that I just let him have it. Doesn't bother me getting a new one every one in a while.

I used to tie a string around mine. Kinda funny, the first few times they ate right in the open. Then when I started stealing them, they did the "pull it into the rocks" thing. Hello string!
