On a seperate note, Are there kits that are more accurate than API ?

This color matching stuff is for the birds, it is no where near as accurate as I would like.

Looking at hanna checkers but really don't want to drop 300 bucks on test kit when I plan on buying a controller in a month or two.


On a seperate note I think my hammer Coral is about to split. Will update in a couple days.

I like the red sea kit for cal/al/mg ($50), although I would love hanna checkers for cal/alk, I too don't want to drop the money on it yet. I'm doing fine manually performing my tests with the red sea kit for now. It's still color based, but not on a color scale like the API kits.

Which test would you recommend? The only one that I don't have that I am aware of is Iodine and MAg, I forgot to post my po3 / 4 is reading zero.

From my understanding when I rearranged the rock I disturbed left over food / deitrus / and other such things, which went back into the water colum. Now don't take this as gosple because im still brand new.

If there was enough detritus to cause a cycle of any kind, you probably need more flow to prevent it from building up to begin with. I'm not even sure it works like that, but I know people can cause issues stirring up sand beds full of waste, so why not the other way?
