I have had Texas holey rock in my salt tank for 7m. I heard that its not good to have in my tank. I've had a couple tangs die for no reason. Take Texas holey rock out or its fine to leaven in tank??????

The problem with Texas holey rock is that it's too dense to serve as a good host for nitrifying bacteria to colonize.

I have live rock in the tank to. So do I take them it out or r they ok

When using holey rock, don't count on the "pound per gallon" theory. If you have enough rock to support the system and the holey rock is just for decorative purposes, I'd say leave it. Have you tested for phosphates? I've heard holey rock can leech some. The death of the tangs cannot be answered with the information provided. I'd run a full battery of tests on your water to get an idea of what the full picture looks likes nd we can go from there.

I also thought it could buffer the water (like in a bad way) since it's limestone. Not only for the looks, but that's a big reason people use them in cichlid tanks, I think.
