Yesterday I was cleaning my fuge, adding a little more sand and ended up redoing my whole fuge. I also added a new led light to it, but that has nothing to do with what has happened...

I know it had something to do with the water or I was stung by something while dipping my sausages in there... I noticed a little after they were swelling and itchy. It's happened before but never to this extent, it was getting painful to bend them, not enough to worry me but enough to be bothersome while I tried to catch some Z's....

Just curious as to what might have cause this? I have no open wounds and like I said it has happened before.. Could it just be me? And it was a long period of time too, I never get a reaction when getting a frag or when feeding...

They are getting better today as only one finger remains somewhat swollen.... I'm not worried about it either, just curious.. Anyone else get any kind of reactions??

I was stung by something while dipping my sausages in there...

This part made me smile. Not sure what it could have been. I have nothing beneficial to add here except....put a glove on your sausage next time.

I've had it happen to me several times. The first time I actually went to sick call because my finger was swollen and red. Didn't want it to have to be cut off. The second and third time I just waited it out and there you have it.

Usually getting it pricked by something sharp in the fuge and the associated bacteria makes for a bad combination.

Even then, gloves on your sausages are only 86% effective.

Ya I saw a bunch of bristleworms while moving rocks around, trying to avoid touching them but I'm sure it was one of them..

I don't see any wounds but I'm sure one got me...

When I picked up a thing from the bristle worms it behaved in the same manner as a tarantula irritation. Itched, swelled a little bit, then the whole area would dry and flake off like an old blister.

i heard rinsing with vinegar helps to dissolve the barbs from bristle worms.

For bristleworm bristles I usually use some good old fashioned Elmers glue. Pour some onto the area that's been hit, and let it dry, then peel it off like another layer of skin and it usually pulls most of them out. This also works for the needles from those fuzzy cacti as well.

I tried superglue for frags and I'm having a bit of an issue........ Seems my phone that I am using is going to be permanently stuck to my hand now......

Lol jk... Thanks for the advice.. I should be good. Just was curious if anyone has had the same type of reaction, which I am glad a few have...

I used to tell that trick to most of the people I helped with live rock when I was working in a store...it's a lifesaver. Even if it doesn't get all of them, it will get the majority out and you can pull the rest.

I've had many a case of really irritated hands and arms that were caused by bristles following handling live rock or cleaning a reef tank.
