Quick question. Seems as if two of my cardinals have disappeared. My long time big cardinal and a medium one I picked up a few months ago. The big one and the medium one had been hanging around for some time, but now I've only got the one medium. Not sure if it's the same one that was hanging with my big one. They all look alike.

First thing that I thought was that someone broke into my house and overlooking the various pieces of coral, stole two of my cardinals while leaving all of my rockwork untouched.

But that really does sound preposterous.

Most likely they both died and were then consumed.

But, and I do realize this may sound just as absurd as someone coming into my home to pilfer my fish, could the two be hiding around somewhere attempting to propagate? To knock fins?

Ha ha. Brings back memories. Have you let any suspicious characters into your house lately? I hear there is a bengi bandit a foot.

The research I've done leads me to think they aren't "knocking the fins"...

They don't tend to hide from what I've read.

So... I found a total of 4 fish yesterday when the 220g was moved. Dried and hard. Over the last two years I have had a total of 4 fish go missing with no reasonable explanation. Pajama Cardinal, Blue Chromis, Lawnmower Blenny and a Molly Miller Blenny. Found'em.

Allan you may want to look behind to see if you see anything. You do not look at cardinals as jumpers, but if being chased you would be surprised at what will jump. I have found fish months later under rocks and outside of the tank.

I will look, I had a chromy jump out a few months ago. It's a six inch leap to clear the lip though.

Yeah, not only did the leap seem impossible but I even checked back behind the tank several times and never found anything. Imagine my surprise to find 4 fish in different areas when moving the tank.

I hear you rob, Gloria found a desiccated fish in the bathroom once, out of the fish room and down the hall a bit.

Sorry, Tony, I'm in Baltimore for the week.
