Just looking for some help on a fish list. Honestly, I've always been all about the coral, but with the smaller footprint I should probably take some time to figure out what I want and what will work with this tank.
details that may matter:
- 29 gallon biocube
- 150w MH
- open top but it has a lip around it and a wood canopy over the tank, only place fish could jump is in the rear chambers that will not have any media in them.. maybe just some rubble and lines from the HOB equipment.
- flow.. MP40 tuned down
- mixed reef with inverts to include a cleaner shrimp, snails and a few blue leg crabs
- 1" sand bed only in the front of the tank.. the rest is bare bottom foam
Here's what I'm thinking:
BLK/WHT - 2 x Black Clowns, Amphiprion ocellaris (already have these, they are about an inch and a half)
PURPLE/YELLOW - 1 x Royal Gramma Basslet
BLUE - 1 x Blue Saphire Damselfish
1 Wrasse:
ORANGE/RED/YELLOW - 1 x Yellow Fin Flasher Wrasse
or
PINK/ORNG/BLUE - 1 x Pink-Streaked Wrasse
= 5 fish
I really want as much color as possible which is the basis of this list. All seem to be peaceful with the exception of the black clowns which can be semi.
Your thoughts...? Problems? Other suggestions?
thx

I'm also not sure on that yellow fin flasher wrasse...just saw some youtube vids and those things look like they need some swimming room. Any good options on colorful wrasses for a 29g tank? Not interested in 6 liners.

I'll have to think about this...I have owned a blue saphire for over 5 years...he just recently passed away...about a month ago. Had him in my old 120g, then my 29g BioCube, then a 24g Aquapod, then the 140g half circle, then my 55g, then the 85g... he was always peaceful. Maybe I got lucky though.

I have a sapphire damsel and I would have to say he is the most chilled out fish in there.

I recommend clown fish and blue devil damsels. They're both territorial and like to nip when you put your hand in the tank ::snicker:: LOL

What about a pair of pink-streaked wrasses? I've seen them come out in pairs on liveaquarias drivers den. Also I had a trio of smith's fang blenny and I really liked them, I know you said a lot of color but these fish are really interesting to watch. Check out this video:

Bro, the fang blennys are cool. I like the white. Not sure I want to get a picky eater though. Will definitely consider them though. I love the rock work in that tank. Nice job! The pink-streaked wrasses might be something to consider.

I don't know how I missed this Rob.
I second the pink streaked wrasse. I have had Crazy Eyes for over two years now. Model citizen and cool fish. They are a little shy though. Cruises the rock work all day and appears to be picking whatever he finds.
Another fish I have always enjoyed is my tail spot blenny. Lots if personality and stays fairly small.
