Leather Coral isn't happy

I'm not so sure that my leather coral is doing well. It extends long, thin tentacles at night, but during the day it doesn't show any tentacles. A few days ago I witnessed white smokey stuff coming off of it, and I researched it and figured it was just cleaning itself, but now it looks white and unhealthy in several spots, the edges of the coral are the only thing that's brownish pink and the tentacles there extend themselves a bit.

I'm worried that it's getting too much light. Is that possible?

By tentacles, do you mean polyps? I can't tell from the photo, but it kind of looks like it's a toadstool.

Both my devil's hand and green polyp toadstool likes a moderate amount of flow over it to wash off the jell that forms over its skin. The white spots... I get that on mine if I touch it or sand accumulates on a portion for a couple of days or so. When I baste it off what's left is a light mark.

Yea, I think it's a toadstool.

Sometimes during the day it will get little nobby things, but at night it gets these thin tentacles that extend and retract maybe 5 or 6 inches.

Whoa! That's quite a reach. I'll have to check mine tonight. I have one of mine directly under 25" of water and a 400W MH. The other is under the same water but a 150W MH. They both are doing well, and I've found that the trick to mine is flow.
