I had the chance to speak with Ozzie of Seamix Reef about their new products.www.seamix.net (http://www.seamix.net/) . He gave me some information that I had never heard before. I thought I would share it. I asked what was the difference between adding their Calcium vs using Kalk. He stated that the more kalk that is added, the faster pH will drop and also the more Kalk that is added, the more the calcium ion is reduced. I thought it was a very important information to pass on. Whats everyone take on that ?

I like the prices they have on their product, but I wasn't able to get much information on my phone. Their largest salt product is only $20.
I haven't noticed any ph drop, fast or slow. But then again, I don't believe I've ever tested for it.

My kalk reactor broke about two weeks ago and took it off line.....
I hvent noticed much difference really....
With kalk ph was 8.1 and a night 7.8
Now maybe it's around 8.1 and at night 7.6

Yeah, they've got five reviews that I could find and all five of them were hopefuls rather than experience.

Back in the Stone Ages, when I worked at a LFS, we had a guy in our warehouse that made salt. Back then, the only competition was IO. He was a chemistry professor, and he'd gotten his PhD on the analysis of seawater. Surprisingly, it does vary throughout the world. He also wrote THE column on SWF for Tropical Fish Hobbyist - which was the magazine of the hobby back then.
He actually added gold to his salt mix - just to say it was there. We bought it from him in bulk, and repackaged it.
