So what are they? Only come out at night, and I never have to clean the glass. It started with just one then two, and now a bunch

From that angle, I'd put my money on stomatella varia. I've got them and love 'em!

Thanks for the quick response, what is amazing I see them when I get up at 4am otherwise you do not see them.

I see mine all the time now. When I first noticed them, it was only at night. Since there is no natural predation in the tank to worry them they hang out in plain sight during the day as well now.

While we're on the topic.....what is this? I'm fairly positive that thing on the right is a pineapple sponge, but what about the one on the left?

I don't think so. Can't really see it, it's in my sump in the intake chamber. Barely any light in there.

Let's hope it's not. The pic I posted was of a Tritoniopsis Elegans. A softie loving nudibranch.

I'm going to check when I get home, but I'm not sure this even moves; it might still be in the same spot.

I have no idea where it came from either, I used dry rock on this build, seeded with a few pieces from my 29 I've had over a year. I've never seen something like this in there, although it's possible I missed it or conditions were not right.

I'm thinking they are all pineapple sponges. At least they all have that football polyp looking thing.

I agree with with you. I was just reading an article in ultra marine magazine written by James Fatheree. He's the professor who did that great meeting regarding the clams. He mentions that there are over 7000 species of sponges. There's bound to be little differences here and there. The second posts pics all look like the same types of pineapple sponges I have.
