Who here runs a net module on there RK unit and is it worth it?

I found a app for my iPad an iPhone that will allow my to adjust timers and functions and thought it would be neat....

I will be trying to have it all wireless aswell......

I was wondering too.... I might pull the trigger and get one. as soon as I figure out how to get Internet to it without added more wires to my collection under the stand

Well your going to have to add a few more if you go "wireless".... Which makes no sense. Lol

I have been digging into this alot lately and been meaning to text Louis to order me one... I have a gift card I received as a present and that will take care of the access point I would need to complete the communication from the module to my router....

Just curious if ppl are really using the access all that much or not...

How far is your tank from your router? Mine is on the other side of the house and I don't want to crawl in my attic..

My controller has WiFi built in, but that's because I built it that way.

I have the net module and love it. I check on the tank and make changes from my phone and iPad all the time. You can also have it send you emails when various alarms go off. Definitely worth it...

Sorry...you all should get one now. Money well spent to give you the option to check in on your tank while away. I plot ph and dosing pump cycles at work, and make adjustments if needed. Its fun and functional. Just get the dam thing so you don't have to contemplate getting one....problem solved.

I make a lot of impulse buys, but this one was a good purchase.

STOP!!!..... lol

Nah i will scoop one up eventually. Like today we were have alot of real quick power outages and my skimmer was acting up.... Then Im eating at a restaurant close to the house and my neighbor calls asking if my power was out..... Right then I thought, it would be nice to hop online check my system, if I was able to. If there was, to cut off my skimmer so it doesnt go nuts like it does after a outage...

If your power is out, your controller will be out too unless you have it on a UPS. You would also need your networking hardware on a UPS to ensure your Internet still works. I'm about to do the same thing, but I think I'm going to program my controller to have a delay on powering up the skimmer. That way after power is restored the skimmer would take 2 or 3 minutes before it kicks on, making sure sump levels have returned to operational levels first.

if your skimmer is hooked up to a reefkeeper you can do what I do. just set that plug to light and MH, delays 10 or 15 min after power outage

I have my skimmer come on 30 minutes after the system comes out of "standby" mode. I do the same with any additional circulation so things are calm for a while after feeding. Using any metal halide setup channel will do the same thing with the whole "safe start" delay thing that DA uses.

I don't have that option, I built my controller and have not gotten to the power center yet but I'll definitely be programming on into it. It makes sense.
