no one told me i would have to learn to solder and machine plastic to keep a saltwater fish tank.

I thought it was a given... Lol.

Can you power them up and use a volt meter?

Euro blocks FTW. What dimmer is that?

no that was earlier changin out the harmonic ballencer on the wifys infinity. Worst thing was the belt was harder to get on then the freakin pully.

No dimmer unfortunatly this is a test bed for the bigger tank. the "chip?" is a powersupply for the cooling fans :)

cost for everything including acrylic was $64.50. I didn't think i did too bad, but then again i did see a coralife 8" t5 fixture for about the same price the other day. If anyone wants a breakdown of what all is in it holler and i can post one up.

Anyone with a lot more technical knowledge on electronics? I was wanting to add a little 3v led for a moon light, but i dunno if there is some kinda resistor i can add in line with my 12v feed to drop it down?

Ok, What I would give to talk to an EE right now. Does anyone with a good bit of electrical knowledge care to help with this experiment?

My leds are too bright hehe <insert Tim Taylor joke here> but my drivers are not dimmable, so the theory is to install a resistor in parallel. What kinda resistor i asked myself.

here is my math using my horrible memory of ohms law and some wiki.

my actual voltage is 8.95 measured with a multimeter. The driver current is 900ma. So here is my understanding of the math (which could be totally off)

8.95/900=.00994
8.95/700=.01278

difference being .00264

I believe that means i need 2.6k resistance to drop my current to 700ma

can I buy a 2k resistor and plug it in to "dim" the lights?
