Overkill???

So, I went home for lunch (cause I just moved five mins from work, awesome) and was warming up some food and playing around with some of my extra fish equipment laying around in the living room cause I just moved. And I'm setting up my 10 gallon in the kitchen breakfast bar, I started wondering how much of that extra equipment i could squeeze on the ten. Sooooo with a HOB fug, filter (rated at 60g) and a skimmer (rated to 75g probably more since I went from a maxi600 to a maxi1200) i set it up and thought to myself " that would be one clean freaking tank!" It looks retarded beyond belief but I thought I would do it for poops and giggles. Oh, and I will be setting up my AI Sol blue over it cause it is laying around until i get other tanks up and going. Over kill much?

I'm setting it up tonight. I will polyfil the returns to limit bubbles. Kind of a little excited now ha ha. Guess it is all in the build, Rob.

no such thing as over kill till you actually kill stuff lol... my old pico had a AC-70 and some par pushing LEDs, and a biocube skimmer. I grew sps no problem.

Cleaned the fuge and filter. Got it on the tank and going. Skimmer is not running yet(no real need) but i have to find the maxi1200 i had modded to work on it. Heater and koralia 400 going. Have to stop by home depot today to find an L bracket to mount the ai. Then ot should be good to go.

I was thinking about using fiji mud in the little fuge seeing as this is a for poops and giggles tank. Unnecessary? It will still help with biological filtration yeah?

Yeah for sure. I am mounting it off of my wall though. I have a partial wall above my breakfast bar and will just be using shelving brackets turned upside down to mount the ai over the tank. I will snap some pics tonight.

1598215983 got the ai mounted. Decided against shelf brackets and went with wood ties at a 90 angle. I didn't want that wierd support piece going between the sides. Didn't need it and it was an eye sore. Not that these are any better. But a little. I might pull them down and paint them at some point. But there ya go zack.

*Cough cough* yeah. Me too..... I'm going to flip the brackets tomorrow to hopefully hide some of the metal. Got some LR in there now. Looks a little more like a tank. This was my qt tank and the sand was relatively undisturbed with the move. So hopefully between that the LR from my main tank and thtank% water from my tank and 50% new water that will help minimize any cycle. We shall see. Cause i did clean the fuge out. But thinking about tossing fiji in there anyways.

Added some zoas and a coc worm and a yellow tail damsel. Going to add some more live rock here soon and some fiji and rubble to the fuge with some more cheato or culerpa. Pretty happy with the color and look so far. Looks awesome.

Thanks rob. I'm liking it. Nanos are pretty fun. I got the skimmer going. When i was picking up some equipment from shane for my 40 breeder i snagged a maxijet 900 from him and got it jerry rigged to the skimmer and pumping lots of bubbles. Should start pulling skimate in not too long. Added a black clown from alamo. Can't beat 20 bucks for one. And some gsp from my display. And just as a disclaimer this was an established 10 gallon tank. So I'm not setting up a tank and stocking it four days later ha ha. It was my qt tank prior.

Just an update pic. Everything is super happy. Blastos are huge and fluffy. Zoas and palys are all open and full. Added some fairy dust palys from my big tank. Going to frag a head off of my duncan to toss in there tonight or tomorrow. Got a frag of red planet from Allan i am going to toss in there in a couple days after I'm sure it won't die with the transition to the leds. Moving along swimmingly. (Pun intended) only issue is i think the black clowns i got are a little stupid. I have to toss the food right in front of them or they won't see it... worried a little about them. They are eating though.

Ha ha. I may have snagged the perfect one. I have one pretty one. I stopped off at phenomenal yesterday for their wednesday shipment. The got in some black and whites with a little orange and some misbarred. But they had one that was awesome it was all black with white stripes but had a crimson undertone to his color. It was pretty sick look i wanted to snag him. Might try and trade my caveman clown for him ha ha. I'll post a pic of my clowns tonight. I got home at like 9 last night. Was tired as crap.

I actually broke this tank down and consolidated it into my 40 breeder. Downsizing my tank collection. Upkeep on three tanks was annoying and time consuming. It was fun and turned out great. Maybe once i get more time on my hands i'll do it again.
