Hello, my name is Jason and I moved here from SC about 5 years ago. I had a 120 reef before I moved and decided to sell it instead of move everything. Since I have been here I haven't had another tank. Some things have changed since I had a tank last (LEDs etc), so I've been reading up on things. The only club in SC was about an hour drive, but I participated. Looking forward to not driving an hour to get to club functions now.

I haven't made a tank purchase yet, however, I'd like to purchase one in the next couple weeks. I had a harlequin tusk, which I loved, in my old tank, unfortunately, I don't think I have enough room for a tank that can support one :/ I can probably only do a 90G (110G tall?) this time. I'm torn between a getting a 90G or just getting a 65G since I can't get a tusk. 65G's cheaper setup is appealing, but I think we all want the biggest we can get.

What LFS has good tank deals? (Can I ask that question?). Not opposed to a used tank that's drilled. Anyway, should I get a 90 or a 65? From where?

TIA!

Hey bug, welcome to MAAST! We have a Harlequin tusk in Mike's FOWLR and dang, I love that fish. I totally understand what you are saying.

+1 for the Elegant Reef recommendations on tanks, you'll also want to check out Aquarium Designs and Alamo Aquatics. These three all carry reputable brands of tanks, offer great service, and will order you just the size you decide that you want if they don't have it in at the moment. Not sure I would be content with a 65g when I had space for a 90 or 110...

Welcome back to the addiction bug. As far as tanks, I know that the Polly's Pets in New Braunfels has a nice rimless 65 gallon setup for sale (or they did last time I was there) and the Universal City location has a nice 90G. Both have taken good care of me over the past 6months and are great folks to work with.

Check Craigslist, ther are some good tank deals from people moving and don't want to take with them like you did. Some ads come with everything, and you might be able to talk the seller down some if they are despaerate.
