Welcome to my world Jeremy. I have the 28g and was looking for the same.

Retrofit LED's by rapidled. Check it out --> http://www.rapidled.com/nanocube-24/ (The price however is almost as much as a AI Nano LED. But, with the AI it's open top, hanging LED's.)

Has anyone used rapidled's? Are these LED's good for SPS, LPS, etc. Or would we still be limited to what we could add to the tank?

Thanks

If you do get rid of the hood, I really like my 150w aquaticlife hqi pendant over my 29g biocube. It looks good and puts out plenty of light. I have the light about 10" above the water and heat isn't a issue, heater keeps it at 79 and by the time the lights go out it's around 80 with a house temp of around 77-78.

They are pretty nice, I have one of the 50/50 ones on my 5.5g. A biocube/nano cube retro don't get more simple then adding some panoramas and stunners.

For an all in one that you want to keep the stock look go with Ecoxotic panorama pros retrofitted under the splash guard. For that size tank you would need 3 pros to keep anything you want in it (sps, clams, and so on).Only prob with that is the heat is going to be crazy in there. So you would need to cut your hood to mount them to the top or upgrade the stock fans and point them both up to expel the heat. If not the lights will flicker and also the heat will greatly reduce the life of the leds.

350gt, what size nano you have and which strips did you get? Did you have to cut or modify your hood?

I had the 24 gallon aquapod.... Same one jeremy might of picked up if he got it from R2U...

I completely gutted it, should have kept the fans as someone said 3 strips builds a little heat, not much but enclosed the LEDs will get unhappy.... I just laid a external fan over one of the openings and had it one the daylight timer, to kick out the heat built by all 3 on at once..

Yes, 3 is enough but would have love to put 4 of them...

I had 2 50/50s Strips(older model panoramas) and one all blue/magenta pro strip.... I really liked the look and the colors were really amazing....

You can go cheaper and get a DIY kit like ace just did... I believe from R2U.

But if your set on the panoramas Louis at elegant had panoramas.... I believe I saw some the other day I was over there... Give him a call.

I just measured my light area under the hood where my current PC's are on my 28g Nanocube. I have have room for 11 1/2 inch strips. Panorama pros are 12 1/2 inch.
