So I have a yellow tang and I noticed today when I got home that his yellow flesh between his eyes is gone. I'm not sure what happend because it wasn't like that last night. I'm not sure if he stuck his nose in the mp40 trying to graze and it got tore off. He's eating fine. I just fed the fish mysis and put some nori in there for him. Any ideas?

no ideas there. If a tang is stressed you may start to see wounds. The tang may start to shown signs of disease. Keep an eye out.
pics may help out
I do know if you cramp a tang they get diseases and if not treated it will eventually spread to the rest of the fish or die.

I have a good picture of it but can't post it right now from my iPad. Can I email it to someone for them to post for me? I want to make sure the tang will be ok. It doesn't seem stressed but not sure.

If the wound is caused by LR or other fish, crabs, etc . . . A tang can get sick fast. Best to check with your LFS and see what they recommend.

It is an odd spot to be injured.

Thanks for posting it. Ya I know. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. He's eating fine so I'm going to keep a close eye on it.

Read up on HLLE (head and lateral line erosion). There are several theories about what causes it, but it's generally agreed to be stress-induced.

Male pattern baldness?

:)

How deep is the gash? It looks a lot like he bashed his head. I've noticed similar (not as pronounced) wounds on my tangs in the past. A few days later all healed up.

It's not a gash at all. More like he took his head and rubbed it on a rock and peeled off his skin
