There is a bunch of stores on IH10; you just have to be creative? Phenomenal take IH10 to Huebner, right on Eckert and you are there. Or take IH10 to 410 go west right on Bandera and after a couple of miles you are at Alamo Aquatics. Or if you went east on 410 from IH10 right at Vance Jackson you are at Texas Tropical. Or a couple of favorites of mine take IH10 west get off at 1604 go a couple miles to 281 south and you have Aquarium designs and a couple exits down Elegant Reef. Another favorite is right off IH10 and Pat Booker you will find Polly’s Pets. (okay so maybe you have to get off on 1604 and then 78 but it is close?) If you check the rent on IH10 properties that may explain?

lol Alton.
Same reason there aren't any off stone oak parkway and on the North side of town. To get on I10 and to be visible from the highway is going to cost you. We were considering this (north) for MCC before we decided to close and it wasn't going to be cheap.

A store off I-10 would be great for me since i drive up and down it everyday.
But when you think about it the best and most reasonable places to put a store would probably be off
I-10 & Dezavala- either net to the HEB or next to the Home Depot
or
I-10 & Vance Jackson- next to the Harbor Freight
I'm actually surprised Gabe's Exotic Pets closed down, I thought they had a great location off of 410 and Evers.

just because you put one there doesn't mean people will go. working in the fish biz in this city is hard, too many
competitors, and finding your nitch is hard not mention Internet prices.

Maybe a new trend of I10. Maybe Cantina Saltwater Restaurant. Get your fish or coral and dinner at the same time. I allways have to make 2 trips.

I guess when i think about it there are a lot of competitors here in San Antonio.
Even the south side has 2 fish stores that carry SW fish and equipment.

Exactly..... I was just thinking cause with the new store opening up on bandera, that's what 3 now on or near bandera?... None of the stores are too far from me as others on this site but I'm always up and down Ih10, would be nice to have atleast one...

that goes for any small business.
But if someone did put one there, ppl would go... including myself and Im sure you would drop in to check it out. i am sure plenty of folks that work downtown or near would drop in on there way home, if they live out 1604 and IH10.

When i was looking they were about the same. The stores on 281 probably went to 281 versus i10 because it was further away from the stores already on bandera. But there's also a big difference in price between being visible from the highway and not.
So a store off 281 not on the highway could cost a lot less than a store that is visible from i10.
Who know's, it's all about timing too.
