Plant question...what is it?

I got this with an Emerald crab. The crab eats it. I think its a form of Caulerpa.

Question is what plant is it and can I leave it in the tank until all gone without issues? Or?

That's Halimeda. I have some in my 20g long I'm letting grow out for my sea horse setup.
