Im looking for a fixture that will sit on a tank not hang from the roof.

Im looking for a 3ft fixture that sits on a 40 breeder that can grow high ligh sps and other low light coral.

What I have learned is that 1WATT 10k LEDS tend to burn some zoas but sps actually grow with 1WATT LEDS on shallow tanks.
As allways placement is important. T5s dont seem to be enough. I think it should be a mixture of LED and T5.

I may go with a Marineland REEF LED in the middle and 2 2bulb T5 on both sides.

Of course a couple of DE 14k MH with T5/LED may be the way to go.

If you know a fixture with a mix lmk. I may have to build a fixture.

Maybe a 150 MH with 2 panorama pro led strips...?

I really liked what they did for my tank when I had them..

How long did you run the MH? I ran 250MH and I was allways running fans. I run lights 16 hrs a day.

On my old fixture the 150's only 8 hrs... T5's for 8-10 I think.

The panoramas 12 hrs.....

May have to get a canopy
Do you think maybe 2 150WATT retrofit DE 20k and run every 4 hours then shutdown 4hours then back on 4hrs, etc . . .
The on/off every 4 hrs to reduce heat but give the sps the sunburn.

and then what to run on both sides of the MH. Need 2bulb retrofit T5 on both sides of the MH with small footprint.

So does somebody have a 3ft fixture with MH and T5s that will sit on a 40 gallon.
