nice pic with LED reflection; I have never owned a clam. May have to find one that will stay small for me. From what I hear they can get pretty big.
nice pic got your clown posing and smiling too

Thanks, Ace. That's my favorite of the new additions

Shane, clams are pretty cool. The Crocea and Maxima are the smaller of the giant clams. Squamosa and Gigas are the real monsters. :)

Bad enough for a tear down and it is in the top front corner. I don't think Ben is very happy with the job a local place did on the reseal.

Thanks for everyone's concern. Right now the tank is in a holding pattern. The leak is stopped and I'm still trying to figure out what to do. I will need another tank. It'll be awhile before I'll be able to swing that. Time will tell if the tank will hold.

Ok. This is the current plan. It's taken on many evolutions in the last couple days but I think this is it. I purchased (4) 20g long tanks and built a large QT system. All of my fish have ich and need quarantine. Since I already have the tanks, I will drill them and set them up on the DSA stand that is currently running. I will redo the plumbing to accommodate the 4 tanks in lieu of the single 185. The stand will accommodate the 4 tanks with 5" in between them for plumbing. This will afford me the ability to keep most all of my coral. The fish are all going to a friend for QT. Some of my coral may get farmed out between some other friends and some will be sold.

It's been awhile since I've updated. I figure one is in order. Had some ups and downs with te tank and some things I've been trying to figure out. Been having problems keeping SPS happy. Lost a few nice pieces and have my best in a friends tank looking great.

I still have the bar clamps on and that seems to be holding off any of the leaking. Here are a few pics so y'all don't yell at me.... :)

Ace: you and me both. This tied for first place as my favorite fish. Shared with the aforementioned Potters angel affectionately named Harry. My daughter helped name the Betta, Twilight Sparkles.

Thanks for the compliments everyone.

I am still working on getting my numbers straight. I feel like I'm pretty close. I trial ran a Kalk stirrer empty for a week or so recycling back into the ATO reservoir where it sits. Finally put it online about a week or two ago. I was having some big pH swings and low alk. My Ca and mag were both good. Hopefully this is getting me back on the right track. I've got some fairly awesome SPS pieces growing out to mini colonies in a friends tank. I'm going to do a test run with a frag this week sometime. Hopefully starting tomorrow. :) The valida SPS seem to fair ok with the swings. It's just been an issue with the more delicate varieties.

I miss all my sticks.

My plan once the tank sprung a leak was to get a new tank this fall. I'm now thinking that its a crazy idea to set up a new tank of the size I'm upgrading to just to tear it down in 2 years when I build a home.

The tank I'm planning on upgrading to is a 350g acrylic. 96"x36"x24". The tank is still kind of of up in the air.

In the interim....

kkiel02
Tue, 27th Aug 2013, 08:09 AM
That's nearly my exact dimensions. I went glass though. Acrylic scratches too easy for me. If I did it again I would make it 32" front to back so it's easier to get in the house. We had to turn mine sideways to get it through the door which was a pita. I'd do something like 96+"x32"x30"
Plus it's hard to find a light that spreads the whole 36" front to back. I ended up with radions for led and lumen bright large reflectors for
Mh.

Scutterborn
Tue, 27th Aug 2013, 10:11 AM
I had considered the 330g. It's 96x30"x30". It's a little more than the 350 because of the height requiring thicker acrylic.

Scutterborn
Tue, 27th Aug 2013, 10:14 AM
Oh, and I'm still trying to talk the wife out of acrylic. She's convinced it's better. This tank leak has really put a strain on her.

I'm going to have to do some consolidating. It's a 65g. My plan is to sell off a bunch of my stuff and keep only the top 10% of my favorites. I plan to also setup the frag tank that I had at the swap and house most of my smaller stuff. I'm normally not a big seller. I will, however, give it a bit of a go. If nothing else, I'll be able to keep more of my coral. Most all of the big corals will need be sold off. 😫

I'm planning on building a house within the next 1-2 years. When that happens a real build thread will begin!

I found a good deal on this tank and had just picked up a stand from Shane that will fit this tank as well as a 40b sump. It should work out well. It's going to be a huge adjustment for me.
