I upgraded my 2 gallon pico to a 2.5g

I went from a Fluval Spec to a mini aqueon tank, with a frame made from molding to match the bathroom decor. The top of the frame holds an ecoxotic panorama LED module. The tank is bare bottom, I want to get some GSP covering the whole floor eventually.

For filtration, I have two tiny Tom filters with spray bars. I can't find the carbon inserts for them anymore, so I took out the sponge and replaced it with carbon infused sponge. I don't know how well the stuff works, but for a 2g it's worth a few buck to try it out.

The tank has been kind of grungy with a mini cycle. I took some rock out of the sump on the big tank, but it's still getting a diatom dusting. I plan on doing weekly water changes, changing filter media once a month. No fish! All the cuc is already in there: two tiny blue leg hermits, a star astrea, and a regular astrea.

I want to add only a few species of coral, but I'm still deciding what they will be. For sure, a frag of palau nepthea. It will probably look better under the pico lights than in my big tank. Of course the GSP floor. Maybe some blue snowflakes to cover one rock.

Insanely awesome frame around that tank. Can't wait to see that bottom covered with GSP

Well I didn't actually assemble the pieces myself.... although I was incredibly persistent about my choices of molding and paint.

Stephen did the building, I picked the color. :D

The tank is cycling, it looks awful. At least a 2g is easy to clean up!

I pulled the rock out of my sump, it's been in there for a few years, I don't think it was ever in the display tank up top. Yet...

The sump rock is growing ulva all over it!

I have ulva in the display tank. Every once in a while the stuff goes crazy and grows everywhere, even on the glass if I don't wipe it daily. I can't really call it a nuisance algae because its so easy to get rid of, but I think its cool and tend to let it grow in weird places. An ulva bloom is a quick slap on the wrist to let me know I over fed. It all balances out pretty quick, and the fish enjoy a healthy and tasty snack.
