I have a green bubble tip anenome (or whats left of one) in a 29 gallon sps dominated reef tank. The lighting includes an aquatic life quad t5 fixture with 2 10,000k and 2 atinic bulbs the anenome has been closed for sevral weeks but has never looked like this before. It does have a 1 1/2 inch tomato clown that used to host it before it began to close up.I have a picture below. All parameters are fine..salt is 1.025.The tank has been set-up for 6 months now..I dont know what caused it to start looking like this..Does anybody have any advice on what i should do??
sorry the picture is kinda bad...I took it with my cellphone.

Ooh. That looks kinda ugly. Is it falling apart? If so, you'll want to siphon it out (rather than net it out). You don't want your tank polluted with a dead anemone - they can nuke your whole tank.

Its not falling apart..and ya i thought it looked pretty ugly too...what ever tentacles are left are completely bleached...its still firmly attached to the back wall. I assume my lighting is suffecient for him????

At night it seems to puff up to probably the size of a baseball..but the second i turn on the lights it shrinks back into its shrunken tight state..I dont think this is natural is it??

Hindsight being 20/20, most of us with anemones recommend a well aged tank - a year or more.
BTAs are primarily photosynthetic. I almost NEVER feed mine, and I produce an average of about 4 new clones a year that are now scattered among MAASTards. They eat what ever comes by from feeding the tank. Could yours be suffering from overeating?
If they have too much light, they will move. If they don't have enough AND there's a place where they can get more, they will move. In other words, they usually self-regulate their lighting.

Mine is opposite, at night he shrinks into a nice little ball and in the morning when lights are on he expands.

anemone need a very stable tank, and good lighting. hate to tell you this but if it's been unhappy for weeks it's not going to get better. I would toss and wait to try again. by keeping it in there you risk all other live stock

I had the same experience in my 38 gallon tank it would do the same thing the is doing. I would take it out bc mine eventuality nuked my tank and it wasnt pretty.

So what i decided to do is put it in a quarintine tank...It has attached to the back wall....havent seen any tentacles yet..Its a 2.5 gallon nano i just havent had time to setup...its just been sitting there empty except for the live sand & water. Ive got a 13 watt flourecent bulb over it.So if it does decide to take a turn for the worst at least it wont nuke my main tank.
