I have had my ysm for about 2 years and she's kind of a wimp( even scared of my hand never bites) what's the deal I though these fish were aggressive. Is there more aggression with age like the domino or is this it. Don't get me wrong I love that she's docile.could it be she's less aggressive because she has a partner? The reason I ask is I plan to get more fish and I'm wondering if that's when shell snap

I have a pair of ysm. My female is super aggressive. My hand is constantly under attack in the tank. But when i add other livestock to the tank she leaves them be. I even added a trigger the size of a quarter and she she leaves him alone. Other clowns she will destroy though. Attempted that one. Didn't go to well.

With ours, the aggression increased exponentially when the pair began mating. She is constantly protecting an area in preparation of the eggs she is about to lay or the clutch of eggs she is protecting - and the area she considers her turf can be so extensive that it covers the entire tank. Add to this her preoccupation with sweeping the sand into a sandstorm with her tail, moving any frags that offend her to a "better" placement (usually the back corner of the tank and under sand). And did I mention she will bite my ring finger between my wedding ring and knuckle, breaking the skin an average of a dozen times per water change? And bites the toothbrush I use to scrub the rocks to the point that she beats up her whole mouth and face? Lately she's been trying to bully the big guys in the tank (trigger, angel, tang) and seems like she's constantly recovering from sort of gash, slash, bruise, or bump. Quite a character!! :D

She is about a year and a half old. About two inches long. Lost her original mate. Just recently lucked out pairing her with another about two months ago. Shes a transplant from my old jbj nano.

Wow then I really lucked out mine is a sweet heart even when I had a bta for them not one bit of aggression.only when I introduced a male did she attack him till he submitted, but that's a given . I was afraid I was gonna have to trade them in after awhile, which would break my heart cause she was my first fish. I heard these guys turn almost black, can't wait

Yeah. The female will get big. And very dark. Mines still got plenty of growing and darkening up to go. But kristy is right. Specially once they start laying eggs. They will get plumb crazy. Like ex girlfriend you met online crazy.

Yeah, right! You can keep her celibate and don't give her a mate. Otherwise you are going to incur the wrath of the GSM eventually, I'm afraid.

Its going to come down to the female. If i remember correctly. The male can spawn within a year or so. The female takes a while to get there. Plus they have to have prefered spawning conditions.
