Marineland Maxi-jet 400: Maxi-Jet multi-use water pumps are three pumps in one: power head, utility pump and now featuring circulation pump option. Still the best power head for powering undergravel filters and running wave maker timers, as well as running small fountains, calcium reactors and skimmers. New to the Maxi-Jet, the conversion kit in the box to turn the power head into a prop style circulation pump for ultimate water movement inside the aquarium for the least amount of energy! The most fully adaptable pump available.

We got one these gems a few months ago. It was recommended to me by Paul over at Reefs2U when i was in search of a pump to move water from our sump to a refugium. LOVE IT! It truly is versatile. I use it normally to move water to my refugium but during water changes I use it to move new water into my sump to be pumped into the tank. I haven't used it as a wavemaker or in tank circ pump other than briefly to try it out but I have no doubt of its capability. It's quiet and has been one of the best things I've bought in a while...and probably the cheapest at around $30-35

Just wanted to share in case someone might be looking for something multi-use.

fwiw, i wouldn't recommend it as a wavemaker tho. I do notice it takes a second to catch prime and produce a steady flow. I haven't tested it but just my opinion. It's a utility pump and that's what I am happy with. I've used it shortly as a circ pump and love the fact that if I needed to use it in that manner it's available to get me out of a bind.
