So now that my tank is back on track from a potential crash. I wake up this morning to see that the water is about a 1/2 millimeter from overflowing out of my tank. Obviously, my ATO float failed. It dumped about 4 gallons in and ran dry. Talk about a close call. The salinity was a tad on the high side so hope this just equalized it where I want it. :)

I know it makes it easier to have an ATO, but over the past twenty years I have heard of some horror stories. Lucky it wasn't worse. Call it a near miss.

Wow, close call. Glad you were home!

That's why I limit my make-up water resevoir to 5 gallons. I always cringe when I see 40+ gallon freshwater holding tanks.
