So I have asked this question before and can't remember what the answers were. I'm having an algae issue that start about 3 weeks ago. I just tested my water parameters and the results are as follows below. I was told before that my dkh and calcium should be higher so I'm going to be buying the two part calcium and alkalinity package from BRS. This also comes with the magnesium part to raise it as well.

What do you guys think about my parameters and my plan on buying the BRS package?

Phosphate= 0ppm
Nitrate= 0ppm
Nitrite= 0ppm
Calcium= 420ppm
dkH= 7
Magnesium= 1040ppm
Ammonia= 0ppm

what kind of algae problem is it??

Im not much help but my little LHA problem started because of a my RO unit, I replaced the membrane, TdS went back to 0, and it all went away.... Might want to give your water source a test.

Well my RO until is putting out 2 TDS which I was told was still ok. I'm going to be ordering some new filters soon but still need to do a water change before then.

I would honestly bring it back to 0 before turning off the lights.... thats just me though.

Mine was at 1 and I was getting a outbreak. I When I brought it back to 0, it went away crazy fast.

Ya. I'm going to order some new filters and DI resin soon. If my parameters are all fine should I hold off on the water change and throw out all of my RO water i made (30 gallons) and wait until I get the new filters? Or should I go ahead with the water change?

I went ahead with my last water change while my filters were being shipped.......

Thanks for your help. I'll do the water change while I wait also for the filters to be shipped.

Your dKh is a little low, as is your magnesium. Rule of thumb for mag is 3 times your ca level. 420 is just about right for your ca.
