I dose kalkwasser in my ato for all of my tanks.

In my 58g I mixed about 1.5g and gravity fed it with a valve to drip a few times per second over night. It doubled as top off and kept ph up at night. You can also add vinegar (a couple drops goes a long way) to over-saturate the kalk mixture.

I use Justin's method except for the vinegar. Gravity fed with 2-3 drops per second using the cheapie airline valves to control the flow.

ATO w/reactor. I'm too lazy otherwise.

Used to do it with my top off, but seems like I get better growth when I dose a spoonful each morning. But it contradicts my nature to be lazy.

TexasTodd (see the front page pic) uses a large heavy duty trash can. He has a pump that has an adjustable drip rate on it, so the pump itself controls the flow rate. It's the simplest, easiest setup I've ever seen.

Really!? How big is your tank again? That seems like a lot, course it depends on livestock species and amount. I want to start using kalk on the 60 gal. I'm setting up.

What about topping off manually?? Would it be too much at one time? I don't have a ATO set up yet.

My DT is 190, fuge is 110, frag tank is 75, and my macro fuge is 50 gallons.

I don't have a lot of sps, but a few are pretty big. My calcium is around 450 or so. If I miss a day I'm not hurting.

i am thinking about dosing via dosing pump....before i was dosing with my ato in a small tunze reactor..didnt like it...too much work required every 5 days

Here's the pump that Todd uses on his garbage can...

Seriously, it's ridiculously easy. 55g lasts quite a while.
