Ecoray 112D, Someone please tell me why I should not buy this light.. It has larger dimensions than the ecoxotic that I currently have which is what i'm looking for.. more spread in a single unit. the LEDS have individual optics unlike my current unit. but has the same # of one watt leds. it is priced under $500. it is not controllable but neither is my current one so don't really care about that.

I use the 60 Ecorays and have great sps and softy growth in my 75's frag tanks. The spread as you mentioned is great and the amount of lights on a single pod is also a plus to help with the spread as well. In your case you will be dealing with 112 single watt leds per pod, they will lack some overall lumens incompared to the 3watts but make up for it in PAR value. I even have growth from sps placed at the bottom as well so PAR is not an issue. I am currently looking into the 112 for another setup I'm working on for a 125. The price and quality of the product I give A- and that's only because it doesn't have a self dimmer but that can also be purchased seperately if you have a controller. Other than that I am perfectly happy with mine. Prior to purchase if you like you can always visit my set up and see the quality and light output...LMK

Tex, you should consider buying it. They are par beasts. I have 3 60d units(2 on my display tank and 1 on frag tank). I love them and attribute them to my pretty sps color and growth. If you don't care about the controlability they are great lights. Did you see the test results from Dr. Sanjay Joshi?

Just curious, is the spread on the 60D version good enough for a 20 long or a twenty tall?

I may have to give it a shot. With both the blues and the whites on, what color spectrum would you say it best represents? The website says 20k, is that pretty accurate?

I wouldn't spend $500 on a 1w LED system. Of course, that's just me because I could build a better system with dimming for less. However, if these units are getting results and that is in your price range, I say go for it.

Alex and Kelly at phenomenal Aquatics sells the 60D's for like 275 or something like that. I think they went down in price too. Not entirely sure.

You would have to post up another nice LED fixture when I think I had finally decided on Ecotechs for the big tank. Well back to square 1. JK

Ill have to check this out though. I wonder what will come out at Macna this year? AquaIllumination...maybe?

what about these?

Evo100 Dimmable LED Fixture

They are 2 watt LEDs and cover about 24", plus are dimmable. For the price they seem pretty good?

I'm not an LED guy but looking to get out of MH at some point if the price to get into them is right.

Sounds nice. Free shipping over $250. Dual power supplies. I guess that means a timer can be used to turn off whites at night. and blue LEDS on for night.

Nice only $300. Depending on the depth of the tank what par can you get if you attach fixture to canopy or hanging kit?

It has 2 fans but no heat sink? I have not used them but I am looking to get LED. I want to customize 3watt LEDS with heat sink and fans and cover 6ft span for same price.

Looks like a nice fixture. Actually the best price for a fixture that I have seen with 2WATT LEDS and dual power supplies for timers.

I do have a 1WATT MARINELAND REEF LED fixture for 75 gallon and works good. Like most fixtures if an LED goes out you have to replace the entire unit. Or run it without some LEDs. That can be a lot of money after the warranty.

When purchasing LED allways look at maintenance. Is it easy to replace LED if it goes out?
Thats why I will be making a custom LED fixture. This way you get a lot more LED and easy maintenance for a lot less $$$. look below.

Heres a 3WATT LED fixture with a auto controller. I think its 3 feet. for $425. Does anyone know if this auto controller is any good or not?
